About the project

Integration of Theatre of the Oppressed methods into the activities of NGO's in Lithuania

Why this project is important? Increasing of social exclusion is one of the reason why children and young people start to use drugs, commit crimes. Chidren‘s crime is still one of the most pressing problems in Lithuania. Delinquent behavior, especially when it relates to violence and addictions, is usually an expression of social immaturity. Lack of ability to respond adequately in conflict situations for young people is related to one or other social skills to adapt to the school or other groups. Often these problems come from their families, which usually are included in the register of socialy disfunctional families. Parents usually do not work, have not enough income, as a result the social exclusion grows. Dealing with delinquent children and young people can be an object of non-governmental organizations in its programs. Non-governmental organizations have non-formal education programmes for these groups. Still there is a lack of competent professionals, effective methods, methodological materials for many organizations. Project tries to solve this problem, introducing innovative methods and techniques, organizing training for the target group working with socially excluded groups.
